SOOTYFROM EAGLE
Move from Eagle to SOOTY
SOOTY reads your Eagle library directly, with no export needed
Folders, tags, ratings and notes come along, and you can keep using both while you move
100,000 items, measured on an Apple M1 Max
01WHAT COMES ALONG
Your folders and tags
come along
Choose Import from Eagle in the File menu and pick your Eagle library to start
Importing again only adds new items and never overwrites what you’ve filled in within SOOTY
- Folders and hierarchy
- Tags
- Ratings
- Notes
- Source URLs
- Date added
- Smart folders
- Trash
02AFTER THE MOVE
After the move
100,000 items open instantly
A library of 100,000 items opens in 0.14 seconds, and each filter, search or color lookup takes under 2 ms
Find images by description
Describe a picture in a sentence in English or Chinese to find it, while the AI runs on your computer and never uploads your images
Your library is a plain folder
Tags, ratings and notes are written to a metadata.json next to each item, which you can read without SOOTY
On cloud drives and NAS
Several computers can share one library: one edits at a time while the others are read-only, and changes sync across
Organize with AI assistants
AI assistants like Claude and Cursor find items and add tags over MCP, SOOTY asks before anything changes, and every change can be undone
Your Eagle scripts keep working
The local API is compatible with Eagle endpoints like addFromURL and folder/list, so scripts only need a new address
Measured in October 2026 on an Apple M1 Max with 100,000 items
03GOOD TO KNOW
Good to know before you move
- Tag groups can’t be imported yet, and smart folder conditions SOOTY doesn’t have yet, such as comments and BPM, are dropped, with SOOTY telling you which ones after the import
- The macOS version comes first and needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 14 or later, and Windows and Linux versions are coming soon
- It’s a one-time purchase priced by number of computers, with a year of updates included and a full refund within 14 days, no questions asked
